Exercise:

How much exercise does a Bullmastiff need?

Bullmastiffs fall under the large dog category. They grow very fast and their joints mature only when they reach their adult size. Excessive exercise, pounding, and strenuous activity can sometimes do serious damage to their soft, growing bones.

Most puppies will exercise themselves running around the yard or playing with the kids and other members of the family. They can be leash trained at three months of age - a flexi lead is a good way to begin. Once he gets used to the collar and leash he can go for short walks.

He will learn to climb stairs, but coming down is something you will have to teach. Guide him slowly with a leash or by holding his collar. Let this be done only when they are above 10 months old, otherwise a slip and a fall could do irreversible damage.
